Glycolysis is the first stage of cellular respiration. Glycolysis takes place in what part of the cell?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the cytosol of the cell during both anaerobic and aerobic respiration.

it is mitochondria for sure my friend

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Its not the mitochondria......LOL...... what is going on here....... AnnalieseBronz said the right answer, the cytosol. Kreb cycle & electron transport chain (ETC) occurs in the Mitocchondria. -Credentials: B.S Biology & B.S Chemistry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope its the mitocchchondira i just had it on a test trust me thats the right answer

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycolysis "Glycolysis occurs in most organisms in the cytosol of the cell." Red blood cells loses nucleus, mitochondria, ERs, and any membrane bound organelles when they enter the blood stream to mature. So how do they still survive without the mitochrondia? They have glycolysis which makes ATPs in the cytoplasm. Who ever is your teacher/professor, you better change school or class. Credentials: B.S Biology & B.S Chemistry
