I will fan and metal!! Please help! Im just stuck on this thing, and idk what to do... cx The link is down below... x3 What is the quotient written in scientific notation? http://static.k12.com/bank_packages/files/media/mathml_0ae6d5b5b9104b6094c4e12547c78b72d9662722_1.gif
But please tell me how you got the answer also! Thanks a bunch! <3 <3 <3
first off \[\frac{10^{20}}{10^5}=10^{20-5}=10^{15}\] right?
Yes.
ok and in decimal form \[\frac{3}{4}=.75\] probably knew that with out a calculator
haha yeah
so a preliminary answer is \[.75\times 10^{15}\] but that is NOT in scientific notation, so we are not done
Oh, yeah that's where i'm stuck. I figure that out and then its not the correct answer.
ok that is what i thought, just making sure everything up to \[.75\times 10^{15}\] is ok now is the confusing part you have to put the decimal between the \(7\) and the \(5\) to put it in scientific notation \[7.5\times 10^?\]
the question is, should be be \[7.5\times 10^{16}\] or \[7.5\times 10^{14}\] and the answer is \[7.5\times 10^{14}\]
and the reason is because when you go from \(.75\) to \(7.5\) you have increased by a factor of 10, so you have to subtract one from the exponent to compensate
Oh. Well i'm glad that's all cleared up! Thank you so much! <3
hope it is more or less clear yw
Its very clear now. :)
