I'd love some help... Two cars traveled equal distances in different amounts of time. Car A traveled the distance in 2 h, and Car B traveled the distance in 1.5 h. Car B traveled 15 mph faster than Car A. How fast did Car B travel? mph

Hi again, @cody7744

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi there skylarz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any guesses?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have an equation i can work off of

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be helpful

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Unfortunately, I am lost completely. So, no.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok lets see here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on this might take me a while

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, Take your time.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k thx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zimmah Help please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any Ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ye, moment please, there's several others asking for help as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you happen to know the distance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im sorry this was all i was given.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the distance traveled s equal for both cars, that's a given. let's call the distance D let's call the speed of car A a and the speed of car B b. Car A took 2 hours to travel a distance of D. So D = 2a Car B took 1.5 hours to travel distance D so D = 1.5b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We also know that b = a+15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Fantastic! Thank you very much.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you work it out from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright tell me if you get stuck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awesome, Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is 25.5 correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didn't actually solve it, let me check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would 22.5 be by the way?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25.5*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait they only asked for B my bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm getting a different answer, how did you arrive at that?
