OpenStudy (julian.pitalua):

I think it is 3,4 dimethylhexane.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i agree with her

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how is it 3,4 dimethylhexane

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know its hexane beacuse the longest chain is 6 and 3 and 4 beaucse that where the thing is coming out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but where did u put the dimethy from ?

OpenStudy (julian.pitalua):

That's the way, because there are two methyl groups. it is not right to write 3 methyl, 4 methyl hexane, that's what di,tri, but is used for.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okey , so lets say if their were 4 roots coming out we would put tetra right ?

OpenStudy (julian.pitalua):

Yeap.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so wait why is it meth shouldent it be eth ?? beacuse their are 2 coming out ?
