can some one help me understand this problem?

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

let's have it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin 2x = 1/2 find all solutions in 0 less than or equal to x < 360

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got the answers 15 and 75 but isnt 195 and 255 also the answer? becuase book says its not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

numbers all in degrees

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

ok, show me how you did it real quick

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

and also, remember sine must be positive here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok give me a min

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

kk and so long as you did it correctly, there is just one concept you need for the other angles

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

I'm gonna post the link, but let me see what you did before you look at it http://www.purplemath.com/modules/quadangs.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sin \left( 180-x \right)=\sin x,\] \[\sin \left( 180+x \right)=-\sin x\] \[\sin \left( 360-x \right)=-\sin x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if you do factoring and everything you get sin 2x = 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and you can solve it by using two equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 15 + 180k and x= 75 + 180k
