3x+7y=2 for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Isolate the y variable! Given, 3x+7y=2, we first subtract 3x from both sides: 7y=2-3x. Now, the y is almost by itself, except for the 7 that its be multiplied by. So the opposite of multiplying is dividing, so let's divide both sides by 7: y = (2-3x)/7
