-4(a-3)/3=4

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

Do distributive property first!

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

Hmm wait it is divided by 3

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

Multiply both sides by 3 than do distributive property c;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wo what answer did you get?

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

What answer did you get? :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we are stuck can't honestly figure it out.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

"We" ? :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my friend and I

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

\[\frac{ -4(a-3) }{ 3 } = 4\] Multiply both sides by 3 We get \[-4(a-3) = 12 \] Then we do distributive property to get \[-4a - 12 = 12\] Now we add both sides by 12 to get \[-4a = 24\] Now divide both sides by -4 to isolate the variable and keep it positive We get \[a = -6\]

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

To check the answer, put -6 in for a :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see it now - thank you

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

No problem :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay here is anohter - 3(a+7)/2 = 21 Yes I'm stuck. Tried this one the way you showed above - which made total sense, but can't figure this one out.
