Determine the part of speech for the quoted word in the sentence below. Please take a "quart" of these dry oats. noun verb adverb adjective preposition interjection

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Honestly, No. I suck so much at English. Especially figuring out parts of speech.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Well, usually right after 'a' or 'the' it's a noun, but if there's a word describing a quart it would be an adjective before the noun. So is there an adjective describing the word in quotation marks?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no im guessing. it just says take a quart.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be a noun?

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay what about Stephen "girded" his sword upon his armor. how would you know which one it was

OpenStudy (conqueror):

What is he doing to his sword?

OpenStudy (conqueror):

You know?

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Are you still there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

putting it on his armor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so Girded

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Yeah, and what's the action part of the sentence called?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the verb???? Oh my goodness i have no clue.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
