jaynator495 (jaynator495):

What is, and how do you find the intersect of a set of numbers such as a=(insert set here) b=(insert set here)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The intersection of a set is the set of numbers that are in both sets. So if A = { 1, 2, 3, 5 } B = { 3, 4, 5, 6 } then the intersection of A and B would be { 3, 5 }

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

so thats why i got a zero on my test... i was selecting the choice that had all the numbers from both sets x_X, thanks! :D it helped a lot xD

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Nice work, @onemillion6 . Note that { 3, 5 } is the set containing the elements that A and B HAVE IN COMMON.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Jaynator495 Just for future reference, "the choice that had all the numbers from both sets" is called the UNION of 2 sets. One way to think about it is imagining the two sets as a Venn Diagram. The intersection of the 2 sets is where the two circles/sets cross, and the union of 2 sets is both circles together!

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

and that explains why i failed the quastions about the union.... XD i had the exact oppisite :/ i switeched em both ._. oh well though @onemillion6

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

thanks for that extra help as well :D

You're very welcome :)
