The antebellum (before the Civil War) South was a very different place from the South of the Jim Crow era. How did relations between blacks and whites change during this time? A. Jim Crow cut the close ties that had often existed in the antebellum South between black slaves and white owners. B. Blacks were viewed as equals of whites in the eyes of the law under Jim Crow. C. Jim Crow allowed whites and blacks to mingle freely in ways that weren't permitted before the war. D. Many blacks took advantage of Jim Crow laws to buy houses in white neighborhoods.

None of these answer choices really make sense to me but if I had to pick one I would say A, if only because the Jim Crow Laws heightened segregation and the like
