There are 360 degrees of latitude around the Earth. Each degree is divided into 60 minutes. Each minute is further divided into 60 seconds for extremely accurate locations. How many miles are in a degree? a minute? a second? SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh my god thx for checking my question out i really need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are missing a number. you need to know how many total miles there are or are you looking for a equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is supposed to be a challenge

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know that is what the question asks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm are u there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

darn common core- you create the problem with say for miles per degree use d=degree m=total miles ---- m/360=d for miles per second use degree use d=degree s=seconds ---- d/60=s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how am i supposed to know what m is and what d is as a number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you looking for an exact answer or the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i rather have the exact answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't know the exact miles of the circumference of the earth check this http://www.answers.com/Q/There_are_360_degrees_of_latitude_around_the_earth_each_degree_is_divided_into_60_minutes_each_minute_is_further_divided_into_60_seconds_for_extemely_accurate_locations_how_many_miles_are_in_a_degree it says there that the circumference of the earth is 24,000 miles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):
