hey I need help on this pre cal question. "choose the point on the terminal side of -210 degrees.. answers are: (-1,1), (-1,sqrt of 3), (sqrt of 3,-1), or (-sqrt of 3,1)?? please help

OpenStudy (imstuck):

first thing, negative angles are measured clockwise from the origin, whereas positive angles are measured in a counterclockwise direction.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

In a coordinate graph it would look like this:|dw:1411062078732:dw|

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Its reference angle is a 30 degree angle.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

|dw:1411062137495:dw|

OpenStudy (imstuck):

do you know how to label this "special' angle? the special angles are 30, 60, 90, 45.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

This angle is in the second quadrant, so the x is a negative value and the y is a positive one. So you can automatically eliminate the third choice, becuase that one has a positive x.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

BTW the terminal side, just in case, is this one:|dw:1411062314707:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aahh im still a little confused... I get the part of the x being negative and the y positive its just the rest im a lil confused on

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Watch...

OpenStudy (imstuck):

|dw:1411062546990:dw|Thats the side lengths for a 30 degree angle.
