whats a pronoun?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pronouns are small words that take the place of a noun in a sentence. We can use a pronoun instead of a noun. When we use pronouns, we don't have to repeat the same noun every time we refer to it, and pronouns help sentences flow more smoothly and make them easier to say! Hopefully this helped :)

daysofashley is right. Perhaps some examples would help. Here are common pronouns: he, she, they, we, I, you, it. A regular noun is typically the name of something or someone: chair, table, Bob, cat. Those are all nouns. But if you have a sentence like this: I didn't see the table before I ran into it," "it" is referring to the same object as "table" is. "It" is a pronoun, "table" is a regular noun.
