Remind me how to multiply fractions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You invert the denominator and numorator on the second fraction then multiply right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. Multiply the top numbers (the numerators). 2. Multiply the bottom numbers (the denominators). 3. Simplify the fraction if needed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 1/4*1/4 is 1/16 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can also cross multiply like cross out the number

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

for example lets say: \[\frac{ 3 }{ 9 } \times \frac{ 9 }{ 3 }\]

That would be 1? @just_one_last_goodbye

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

first 3 time 9 = 27 so 27 over 27 equals 1 whole
