The number of books in 11 bookshelves in a library is shown below: 23, 41, 27, 25, 31, 21, 21, 45, 56, 37, 58 Use a histogram to organize the data and answer the following question: Which statement best compares the height of the bars of the histogram?

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

It is equal for intervals 50-59 and 20-29. It is equal for intervals 40-49 and 20-29. It is greater for interval 20-29 than for interval 30-39. It is greater for interval 30-39 than for interval 40-49.

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

can anyone help?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

20 - 29 : 5 30 - 39 : 2 40 - 49 : 2 50 - 59 : 2 your answer is C I didn't draw the histogram out, but I kinda worked it out.

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

thank you can you help on another?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I labeled the histogram...20 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59 and the frequency is how many numbers appear in that number range

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

wow your really good at this even showing work :)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

what else ya got ?

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

The table below shows the age of some participants in a quiz competition, and the number of questions they could answer correctly:

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

can I see the table

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

Age (years) (x) 15 21 17 22 16 19 18 Number of questions they could answer (y) 17 17 17 17 17 17 17

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

What is the correlation coefficient for the data, and what does it represent? 0; it represents no correlation between x and y 1; it represents a linear positive correlation between x and y -1; it represents a linear negative correlation between x and y 1; it represents a linear negative correlation between x and y

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

give me just a second...I have to graph this

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

oki doki :)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

ok....when all your points are plotted...(15,17),(21,17) and so on....sonce all the y's are the same, this means that you have a horizontal line. When there is a horizontal line, the slope is 0. Whatever is being measured on the x axis has no bearing on whatever happens on the y axis, because the value of x has no effect on y. So there is no correlation between x and y. Answer is A (or the first one)

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

Can you help me do the last one?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I can try

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

oh and thanks a gazzilion times :)

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

A swimming club has 72 trainers who teach swimming, and 30 of those trainers also teach diving. There are 28 trainers who do not teach swimming but teach diving, and 8 trainers do not teach either swimming or diving. Which table best shows the relative frequency of rows for the data?

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

Teach swimming Do not teach swimming Total Teach diving 0.28 0.26 1 Do not teach diving 0.39 0.07 1 Total 0.67 0.33 1 Teach swimming Do not teach swimming Total Teach diving 0.42 0.78 1 Do not teach diving 0.58 0.22 1 Total 0.67 0.33 1 Teach swimming Do not teach swimming Total Teach diving 0.30 0.28 1 Do not teach diving 0.42 0.80 1 Total 0.72 0.36 1 Teach swimming Do not teach swimming Total Teach diving 0.52 0.48 1 Do not teach diving 0.84 0.16 1 Total 0.67 0.33 1

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

oh wow that was not good

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

imma just then take a screenshot

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I am gonna say the third one.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

sorry it took so long

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

naw its ok, do you have proof

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

well....the way I figure.. there are 72 trainers + 8 non- trainers...leaving us with 80. 72 who teach swimming and 30 who teach both swimming and diving, that leaves 42 who just teach swimming. 30 teach both. 28 teach just diving It seems to match....but I am not 100% sure because when I add, they don't quite come out equal.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

you might need a second opinion on this one

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

hmm.... so can you check some of my answers?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I can try

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

wonderful :)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

where are your answers

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

or do I need to go on your profile and look for questions already asked

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

The following data shows the scores Gina obtained on 12 IQ tests: 93, 83, 74, 74, 83, 92, 93, 94, 90, 87, 83, 86 The box plot below represents the data: box plot has minimum value equal to 74, lower quartile equal to 83, median equal to 86.5, upper quartile equal to 92.75 and maximum value equal to 99 Which of the following is shown incorrectly in the box plot? Median Lower quartile Upper quartile Maximum value

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

here :)

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

ignore that didn't come out well

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

The following data shows the scores Gina obtained on 12 IQ tests: 93, 83, 74, 74, 83, 92, 93, 94, 90, 87, 83, 86 The box plot below represents the data: ----------------- Which of the following is shown incorrectly in the box plot? Median Lower quartile Upper quartile Maximum value

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

74,74,83,83,83,86,87,90,92,93,93,94 median (Q2)= (86 + 87) / 2 = 173/2 = 86.5 lower quartile (Q1) = 83 upper quartile (Q3) = 93 minimum value = 74 maximum value = 94 That would be the maximum value that is incorrect. The box plot shows the maximum value at 99 when all the maximum value is, is the largest number, which is 94.

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

oh darn thats bad because I had upper quartile :)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

it can get a little confusing sometimes. Don't worry...if I had $1 for every mistake I made, I would be rich...but you probably didn't want to hear that from somebody who is helping you with your homework..lol

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

no no its fine, so C or D?

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

im goin with you becuase I trust you :)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

that would be D....maximum value

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

ok :) time for the next one

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

The table below shows the amount of money, in cents, Celine had in her savings account after different number of years: Years 2 5 1 4 6 3 Money in cents 36 972 12 324 2,916 108 What will be the amount of money, in cents, that Celine will save in 12 years? 34,992 708,588 2,125,764 2,679,875

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I need to ask you a favor...can you please close this question. We can still post on it. I just don't want a moderator coming and banning me for giving answers

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

oh yeah sure

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

Let me make a chart on this...hold on

OpenStudy (henrietepurina):

I posted a new question :)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I will go to your other question
