OpenStudy (kkutie7):

look at each example let me type them. give me a minute =)

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

\[_{34}^{79}Se\] \[_{35}^{80}Br\] \[_{32}^{73}Ge\] \[_{36}^{84}Kr\]

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

by looking at the first link I gave you. you would see that the bottom number is the atomic number.

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

You can look at that and know there should be exactly the same number of protons and neutrons, but this is an isotope so different rules. The top number is the addition of the number of protons and neutrons. subtract the two to get the number of neutron in each isotope, the number of neutrons can change but the number of protons can. the number of protons is equal to the atomic number. calculate the number of neutrons.

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

\[79-34=45\] \[80-35=45\] \[73-32=41\] \[84-36=48\] do you understand what the answer should be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes thank you!

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

sure thing
