solve the simultaneous equations: 4x+7y=1 3x+10y=15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would multiply the 4x and equation by 3 and the 3x and equation by -4 so then you would have 12x +21y=3 and -12x-40y=-60 so then the x variables would cancel out and you would combine everything else to get -19y=-57 and then you would divide by -19 and you would get y=3 and then you would plug that back into one of the equations to find x so 3x+10(3)=15 -plug in y 3x+30= 15 - multiply 3x + 30-30=15-30 -subtract 30 to isolate the variable 3x= 15 - divide by 3 x=5 and y= 3

this is a wrong answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u can check whether the answer is right or wrong by substituting x=5 and y=3 in equation 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so lets do it 3x+10y=15 3(5)+10(3)=15 15+30=15 45=15 so its wrong answer
