x < -8
OpenStudy (igreen):
3 − (2x − 5) < −4(x + 2)
Distribute -4 into the parenthesis:
3 - 2x - 5 < -4x - 8
Add 5 to both sides:
3 - 2x < -4x - 3
Subtract 3 to both sides:
-2x < -4x - 6
Add 4x to both sides:
2x < -6
Divide 2 to both sides:
x < -3

Refine 8-2x<-4(x+2)
Expand: -4(x+2): -4x-8
Subtract 8 from both sides: 8-2x-8<-4x-8-8
-2x<-4x-16
Add 4x to both sides -2x+4x<-4x-16+4x
2x<-16
Divide both sides by 2
2x/2-16/2
x<-8
