OpenStudy (mirandaregina):

How do I reflect a point in the axis of symmetry? For example, my textbook says that (0,6) reflected is (4,6) but I don't understand why that is.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what dies it give as an axis of symmetry?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

*does

OpenStudy (mirandaregina):

@amistre64 the axis of symmetry is x = 2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you do see that 2 is the halfway point between 0 and 4 then right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

your point (0,6) is not on the axis of symmetry, its on the y axis

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(0,6) reflects to (k,6) thru x=2 subtract 2 from all x parts (-2,6) reflects to (k-2,6) thru x=0 since we are reflected about x=0 now, k-2 = -(-2), k=4

OpenStudy (mirandaregina):

@amistre64 ok, thanks!
