At t = 0 a ball is thrown upward from the ground at point O. Two seconds later the ball hits the ground. What is the maximum height of the ball? Take the acceleration due to gravity to be 10 m/s2. What is the initial velocity of the ball? For an initial velocity of v0, what is the veloc- ity of the ball as it passes the point A on its way up, where OA is one third the maximum height?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the ball is thrown from the ground, the time it takes to reach the max height will be t/2=1s.

Now you can easily calculate the height: h = (gt^2)/2
