whats is the name of the process that occurs when baking soda and vingar colide that leads to rapid foamation and expansion
I don't know if this will help you but anyway ... The two combine to create an energetic chemical reaction. The vinegar is an acid (acetic acid or ethanoic acid), and the baking soda is a base (sodium bicarbonate). When mixed, they will cause a fizzing, bubbling, churning reaction while forming carbon dioxide and a solution of the salt, sodium acetate. (This is the classic "chemical volcano" science experiment.) The reaction is NaHCO3 + CH3COOH --> CO2 + H2O + CH3COONa Sodium hydrogen carbonate (baking soda) plus ethanoic acid (vinegar) combine to form carbon dioxide plus water plus sodium ethanoate, aka sodium acetate. The carbon dioxide, CO2, causes the frothing bubbles that power the reaction. hope this helped :) :)
it said what i already knew... but it was very informative!... i was hoping for the actual sientific term for the reaction... but who knows maybe there isnt one ._.
