will fan and medal if someone can solve this for me...
i need to know how to do it....
Write an equation of each line.
Slope = 5/6; through (22,12). I have it for the most part but the fraction is really throwing me off......
I can show you what I've done so far to give you an insight as to where I probably went wrong
which step are you stuck ? y-12 = (5/6) (x-22) multiply 6 on both sides... u done something similar ?
hartnn is suggesting that you eliminate the fraction 5/6 by multiplying each side of the equation y-12=(5/6)(x-22) by 6. Would you do this, please?
y =mx +c where m is slope
i'll just show you what i have...
formula is y-y1=m (x-x1)
If you do this correctly, you'll end up with 6y and a constant on the left side of this equation. Move the constant to the right side. Combine terms on the right side. Then divide all of the terms on the right side by 6. Again: please try this and share your work by typing it in here.
y-12=5/6(x-22) 5/6 x 22/1 =110/6=55/3
y-12=5/6x-55/3 +12 +12
so far, its correct
okay one sec
-55/3+12/1 = -55/3 +36/3 = -19/3
so i said y=-19/3...? i feel like that's not right
just don't forget the brackets y-12=(5/6)x-55/3
where did your 'x' term go ?
no idea....
i just went off to the side to multiply or add the fractions or whatever and i dunno
isn't every answer supposed to be y= something? so i thought i was done
i'm ready to give up lol >.<
let me give you that step, y -19/3 = (5/6) x now also you can multiply '6' on both sides... it would have been better if you did this on very first step it would eliminate the fraction part
y MINUS -19/3 = (5/6)x?
or just y -19/3
y-12=5/6x-55/3 you're clear till this step, right ? y = (5/6)x +12-55/3 y = (5/6)x -19/3 right ?
write each term in each step so you won't forget any term
now multiply 6
how do i multiply 6 to both sides of that?
the fraction throws me off in every aspect of this problem, and i don't know what my final answer is supposed to look like so i never know when i'm done
6 * y = 6* (5/6) x -19/3*6 just multiplying 6 to each term
thats why you should keep the trick in mind eliminate the fraction as soon as you can in this problem, you could have eliminated the fraction at very first step by multiplying 6 to each terms
what would the answer be then? because i want to use that as a base to see what the rest of my answers should look like...
because i have more of these with fractions..
doesn't the question say , that you should express your answer in standard form or something ?
if not, we will express it in standard form by default ax+by+c=0 or ax+by =c
'Write an equation of each line'
ok, standard form them 6 * y = 6* (5/6) x -19/3*6 next step ?
no clue...
divide?
that would be...6y=30/36x -114/18? lololol
6y = 5x -38 u get how that came ?
