OpenStudy (adamaero):

@jim_thompson5910 @ganeshie8 @myininaya @hartnn

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

more like 3^8 = 6,561 assuming you allow repeated colors

OpenStudy (adamaero):

no, order does not matter

OpenStudy (adamaero):

sorry, I should have said that earlier

OpenStudy (adamaero):

@jim_thompson5910 @hartnn

OpenStudy (adamaero):

anyone?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I didn't say anything about order

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

unless you give the exact wording of the question....... @jim_thompson5910 's answer is probably right.

OpenStudy (adamaero):

There are eight team members of a team. How many ways are there to select leader, assistant, and coordinator?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

8 choices for slot A 7 choices for slot B 6 choices for slot C as you go from slot A to B to C, you count down by 1 because you can't serve more than one post now you multiply out those choices: 8*7*6 = 336

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you could use the permutation formula, but the way described above is more intuitive in my mind

OpenStudy (adamaero):

thank you

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
