Personal liberties were among the key ideas of the American Revolution. Given this fact, why did slavery continue after the American Revolution?

People were lazy, for one. They didn't want to give up what they considered 'their property'. They'd deluded themselves into believing that their slaves were not real people, that they were happier being enslaved.

They didn't consider blacks 'people'. It was the same way with Hitler and the Jewish. Americans believed that black people were there simply to do their work, and that they were 'lower beings'.

Slavery continued after slavery because people couldn't afford to move off of the plantation fields because they couldn't work and had no experiences

Slavery was an issue that could break apart the coalition of states. The Constitution writers came to realize that they could not get the support of the southern states if they pushed to eradicate slavery. The Constitution likely would have never been ratified. They ended up deciding that it was more important to form the Union. That's why the preamble includes the words "in order to form a more perfect union." Most of the founders recognized that slavery was going to continue to be an issue. They had to leave it to another generation to solve.
