In Engineering, would it correct to say 493°K, or 493°k? (One is upper and the other is lower case)

geerky42 (geerky42):

Just 493 K No degree sign, I believe.

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

in upper or lower case it depends on what is k,Variable,Unit,1000,etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

K is Kelvin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And it is supposed to be upper case, because it is coming from someone's name, right ?

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

lord kelvin lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Didn't know about the LORD.... So I would just put 493K? And if I had something like 493°C, I put 493C... and just never put degrees?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Damn question marks -:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But do I put a space between 493 and K ?

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

try this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin

geerky42 (geerky42):

Yes, space between number and K.

geerky42 (geerky42):

"Kelvin" basically came from man named Lord Kelvin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Thomson,_1st_Baron_Kelvin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see in you first wiki link that it has a K, then space and then degrees Celsius. So Do I put 493 °K or 493 K?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know it is without degree, and with a space. Thanks

geerky42 (geerky42):

No problem
