I am trying to learn Lagrange and Hamilton mechanics, what sort of math do I need? calculus of variantion or functional analysis or something else?

In an introductory course in Lagrangian and Hamiltonian Mechanics you will need at most advanced calculus and differential eq. . In more advanced courses a familiarity with Calculus of Variations might be useful. as well as Linear Algebra..
