What is the slope of the graph shown below? (Points : 2) 5 2 -2 -5 http://takeexam.next.ecollege.com/ec/pub/K12Content/Courses/resources/nonflash_courses/pre_calc_sem_1/assets/1411a978-bbc7-4561-aeda-3de080b5db10.jpg

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

The slope has to be negative so 5 and 2 are not the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much :)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

The slope is -5 because it is steeper than the slope of -2

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

The whole equation is y=-5x-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so was I suppose to do rise/run

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Yes you could do that or use the formula (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) Where the line intersects the points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

The 2 is supposed to be the subscript.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

The 2 and 1 does not mean power. Just so you don't get confused...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

\[\frac{ y _{2}-y _{1} }{ x _{2}-x _{1} }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooooh I get it now thank you so much youre a life saver

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

You are welcome.
