Write a balanced equation for the reaction of NaCH3COO (also written as NaC2H3O2) and HCl

OpenStudy (zale101):

NaC2H3O2 + HCl = Na is +1 the other reactant has H+ and Cl- so Na+1 will have to combine with a negative charge non-metal Cation with Anion, remember? so the product is C2H3O2 + H = NaCl Ok, move one with the next ones C2H3O2 is an acetate and it has a -1 charge, so it must combine with a positive charge H+ the product is then = HC2H3O2 + NaCl The balanced equation is therefore, NaC2H3O2(aq) + HCl = HC2H3O2 + NaCl
