Help with Matrix?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you just explain how to do it with whole numbers on the side?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

To multiply a matrix by a number, you simply multiply each element in it

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\[\large \color{red}{2\cdot}\begin{pmatrix}1&5\\6&0\end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix} \color{red}{2\cdot}1& \color{red}{2\cdot}5\\ \color{red}{2\cdot}6& \color{red}{2\cdot}0\end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix}2&10\\12&0\end{pmatrix} \]

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Can you work the other matrix multipliction ? After that you can subtract the second matrix from the first

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

Subtraction is also component wise.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

i.e. you subtract matrices just how you think you would.

Sorry for the delay, had to do something. Just to make sure my answer is Row one; -28,0 Row two= 7,-40

@ganeshie8

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

I think she/he means the final answer... it looks good !
