Can anyone help me graph a problem? f(x)=-x^2+3

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

when x = 0, what is f(x) ?

OpenStudy (aum):

The right hand side is a quadratic expression and therefore when plotted the graph will be a parabola. This is a vertical parabola since the x-term is squared. (In horizontal parabola, the y-term will be squared). Since the coefficient of the x^2 term is negative, this parabola opens downward. With that general idea of what the graph will look like we can now get into the specifics. What is the y-intercept of the parabola? Set x = 0. What is f(x) or y?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

f(x)=-x^2+3 f(0)=-(0)^2+3 ... replace every x with 0 f(0) = ???
