Why is it important for biologists to understand osmosis and diffusion?
well its one of those funny little things that are bothersome and funny
do you know what either are?
osmosis "a process by which molecules of a solvent tend to pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution into a more concentrated one."
yeah. osmosis is the process of moving from a less concentrated area to a higher. and opposite for diffusion
diffusion: "the process whereby particles of liquids, gases, or solids intermingle as the result of their spontaneous movement caused by thermal agitation and in dissolved substances move from a region of higher to one of lower concentration."
okay so now we got definitions lets think about where they would be used
like examples?
what scientific disciplines would they be used in?
biotechnology? biochemistry?
uh. I have no idea
thats okay kiddo
basically these processes are involved in absorption of food materials and water from intestine and that makes them super important for medical scientists such a moi
as*
it assists in understanding the anatomy but more-so the physiology of organisms retaining such
oh ok
make sense?
yes
sure?
okay well i shall go finish my lab
lemme know if theres anything else
ok thanks!
and i am studying to be a neuro surgeon so if the words i use dont make any sense make sure you ask so you do understand :)
theres nothing wrong with asking :D
