@~Miyanna~

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@~Miyanna~ There's #1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't tell what the points are

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Column B are the answers to column A just have to match

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't you just need to count?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I thought... @IshimaruRitsu

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. B, 2 - 3. C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk about 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep your right!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When it's negative to you subtract?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you medal the right answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. B, 2. C, 3. B, 4. A right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 1 is B, 2 is C, 3 is B, and 4 is A

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we are not running a free answering/swapping service here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

She's just helping me.. @amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i see no help, i see answer direct answers being tossed around.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

distance is determined by subtracting one value from the other, if you get a negative value then just ignore the sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So for example would it be like -22 - 6 = 16?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just ignore the sign completely?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-22-6 = -28 so the distance doesnt care about direction so positive an negative resutls are irreleveant and we just take an absoute value |-22-6| = 28

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What if they were both negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Than that's your answer

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the distance between say: -2 and -6 -2 --6 = -2+6 = 4 or -6 --2 = -6+2 = -4, or simply 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it always positive?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the distance between things is always a positive value yes, but more accurately, its an 'absolute' value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To fine the distance between to points on a number line, you'd subtract the points together for example: -22 - (-6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So i'm thinking it'd be 16.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the terms positive and negative assume a direction is involved. distance is not a direction. the distance between 2 points deals with subtraction -22 - (-6) = -16 but direction does not matter so just 16 is correct

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the distance remains the same regardless of the order of subtraction agreed? therefore -6 - (-22) = 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That was a big help, before this I though I was supposed to add

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good luck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One more question, is there ever a case were you substitute subtraction with addition? @amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, when we consider subtraction as a vectors then subtraction is just adding a negative

OpenStudy (amistre64):

spose we have 2 point a and -b a - (-b) = a + (--b) and two negatives is a positive sooo a + b is the result of subtracting a negative

OpenStudy (amistre64):

this isnt a matter of substitution, its just a byproduct of doing proper math skills
