If you put it into vertex form, it would look like this: y = 2x^2 - 5. The 2 out front makes the graph closer to the y axis than it would if it was not there. The ^2 part means it's a quadratic function, and the -5 moves the whole graph down 5 units on the y axis. You would not really be solving it, per se, but just to maybe put it into vertex form and then graph it from a chart.
