Help with Solving by substitution ;; Please and thanks
Problem i need help with ;;
I'd prefer to learn how to do this aswell if anyone has the time to help.. we've had a sub the past couple days and they aren't very good at teaching the material... im struggling pretty bad ^^;
multiply second eq with 2
then subtract the two equations y terms will get cancelled
it wants it done with the method of substitution. Re-arrange the second equation to get y on its own, and then sub this back into the first equation
Uh... im so lost... x.x
Hes saying multiply.. and you're saying to re-arrange.. so im kinda confused here x.x
so if you re-arrange the second equation to get y on its own: Y=3.25x+0.75
oh i see
well the multiply would work, but the question wants you to use substitution
so once you re-arrange why, just sub that back into the first equation and this will allow you to find x
y* not why lmao
Lol i was about to say... so y= -2?
i get Y to be 4
whats your working out?
huh.... i just assumed cause Y was -2 on the other
oh i see how you got 4, when you add the 3.25 with 0.75 you get 4x. What happens to the x?
kk this is my working out:
so re-arrange the second equation to get y on its own : y=3.25x +0.75 then sub this back into the first equation : -4.5x-2(3.25x+0.75)=-12.5 so, -4.5x -6.5x-1.5=-12.5 -11x=-11 so x=1, then sub this back into either equation to get y=4
oh i see .. thats not as confusing as ive been thinking
okay..calculate the value of x or y in from one equation....and put that value in ither equation
I think i've got it now, Thank you jbn
