what is the domain theory of ferromagnetism

OpenStudy (theeric):

Here's something! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_domain

OpenStudy (theeric):

Generally, I think domains are the pieces of the material that are separated by having different magnetic dipoles. So, one domain's moment points left, and maybe another points right. And the magnetic moments are affected by an external field. They align, you know? At least somewhat. It's just like magnetic moments in a magnetic field. However, now you have somewhat aligned moments, so the material is like a magnet itself! Before, it didn't have much of a net dipole moment. But, while there is an external magnetic field, the domains adjust themselves.

I've never studied this, by the way! Just read! Good luck!
