A sphere has a uniform charge distribution +Q and it has a cavity within which there is a a charge +q . There is another charge +2q which lies outside the sphere at a distance 3R from its centre , where R is the radius of the sphere. The cavity is located at R/2 from the centre and has a radius R/8 . find : 1) the field and potential at the centre of the cavity. 2) does the geometry of the cavity play any role as long as its distance from the center remains the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The electric field at the center of a uniformly charged sphere would be zero. The geometry does not play a role if the distance between the center and the outside is the same. Charge on the 2q+ can be found by Coulomb's law.
