A 4.00-kg mass undergoes an acceleration given by a =(3.00i + 4.00j) m/s2 . (Here i and j are unit vectors along the x and y axes respectively) 8. What is the magnitude of the acceleration ? 9. What net force F is acting on the body ?

OpenStudy (zephyr141):

find magnitude by understanding that the given i and j hat components are x and y components respectively. you all you need to do is find the resultant vector of the two vectors in the x and y direction. in other words use Pythagorean's Theorem. then once you find that you simply use Newton's 2nd law to find the net force.

\[a=\sqrt{3^{2}+4^{2}}\] nd F=ma
