OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i have a slope that is y+ 1 is this a constant or a increasing slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it constant because there is no x value in the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

understand it??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kind a... this is the question i'm confused with: Consider the utility function U(x,y) = xy + x Does the marginal utility of x diminish, remain constant or increase when the consumer buys more units? Explain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the marginal ultility of x is just y+1, but that is going to be a bigger for each new basket containing y and x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?? you asked if the slope above was constant or increasing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, yeah.......the slope for the function xy+x to x is y+1, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

explain to me how you got that??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

partial derivative of U to x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, now what about the xy??
