How can i explain why Oxygen and Selenium have similar chemical properties with orbital diagrams or electron shielding......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it that they are both highly electro-negative because the shielding effect causes both elements to lose their electrons? Or do they share them? what....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nevermind, it cant be shielding effect because Se has more shells than O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They have similar chemical properties due to the fact that they are in the same group . The properties of elements in the same group are similar and the valence electrons in them are the same .
