Why is a water molecule polar?

OpenStudy (zephyr141):

if you look at a model of a water molecule you'll see that it is depicted with one huge atom between two relatively smaller atoms on each side. this is so because of the atomic size of the atoms oxygen and hydrogen. the hydrogen atom has a positive charge and the oxygen has a huge negative charge. it's so big it pushes the positively charged hydrogens to one side and the negative electrons to the other. by this separation we have a molecule that has a negative charge on one side and a positive charge on the other and this is what polarity is. and it's also why the water molecule is a bent molecule model.
