Find the number of moles of each substance. \[\color{green}{\text{moles} = \frac{\text{mass}}{\text{molar mass}}} \] Then express the number of moles in the lowest whole number ratio. This can be started by dividing both by the smallest number of moles to express the ratio as 1 : X, where x is the number of moles of the other substance. If x is not a whole number, manipulate the ratio to get whole numbers for both. The numbers you get will be the subscripts in the empirical formula.
