OpenStudy (kidthatbro8):

A science experiment begins with a metal at -100° Celsius. The following function describes the temperature change per minute: f(x) = 89x - 100°. How will the graph of this function change if the metal is at 25° at the start of the experiment? The line will shift vertically up by 125°. The line will shift vertically up by 25°. The line will shift vertically down by 125°. The line will shift vertically down by 25°.

OpenStudy (gorv):

first draw initial graph

OpenStudy (kidthatbro8):

i'm not sure how to do that...this question is confusing.

OpenStudy (gorv):

u know how to graph a line ??

OpenStudy (kidthatbro8):

yes, but not really f(x) equations..

OpenStudy (gorv):

replace f(x) by y

OpenStudy (gorv):

y=89x-100

OpenStudy (kidthatbro8):

okay, would we work that out like an equation, or no ?

OpenStudy (gorv):

yeah we work out it like a equation f(x) is nothing but y

OpenStudy (kidthatbro8):

okay, so y = 89x - 100. we would first add 100 to both sides ?

OpenStudy (gorv):

lol we need to graph it

OpenStudy (gorv):

u know how to plot a line ??

OpenStudy (kidthatbro8):

how to plot points ? yes. how to get the points ? not really.

OpenStudy (kidthatbro8):

how am i supposed to work this out ? i don't know how to graph it ?
