what is the empirical formula of dinitrogen tetroxide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

N2O4. Di in-front nitrogen means there are two nitrogen. Tetra in-front of the oxygen means 4. The number of atoms only matters when when it is a convalent compound.

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

yup Di in-front nitrogen=2 nitrogen and tetra oxide means= 4 oxygen so it will look like thiss- |dw:1415110966474:dw|

OpenStudy (jfraser):

the empirical formula of a molecule is the \(lowest\space possible \space whole \space number \space ratio\) of that molecule. When you look at the formula of the molecule, can you reduce the subscripts WITHOUT changing the RATIO of the subscripts? Can you reduce them by a common factor?
