Please Help!!! Solve the system of equations. x + 3y = -1 2x + 2y = 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-4, 1) (2, -1) (4, -1) (5, -2)

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm are you supposed to use... which method to solve it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

put it in slope intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug it in then solve for x and y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can use either method.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well.. if you solve say the 1st one "x + 3y = -1" for "x" ... what would it look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y= -3x + -1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can even use elimination

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm well... to isolate the "y" on the left side.. you'd need to "divide" by 3, both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example: -2(x+3y) = -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay
