OpenStudy (bookworm14):

Can someone please check this, i don't think i'm working it out right.... 2n-1 >/= 8n-1 I got n /= greater than or equal to

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

@hilbertboy96

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So we have \[2n-1\ge8n-1\] We wish to solve for n. We need to get n on one side so first thing we can do is add one to the right which cancels the 1's and we get \[2n \ge8n\] subtract 8n to the other side we get \[-6n \ge0\] Now we divide by negative six and WHEN YOU DIVIDE BY A NEGATIVE THE SIGN FLIPS (Caps for emphasis) so we get \[n \le0\] Yes you were correct

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

fwew ! thanks do you have time to check just a couple more? im confused on a few

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

it's 7-7p >/= 7- 10p I somehow got p </= 0 buti dont think its right (not for sure)

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

@hilbertboy96

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok following same method \[7-7p \ge7-10p\] Subtract 7 from both sides they cancel add 10p to the left and we have \[3p \ge0\] Divide by 3 now this time sign does not change since we are dividing by a positive \[p \ge0\]

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

how is -7 and -10 =3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are adding 10p to both sides to cancel it on the right and -7+10=3

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

oh okay :) what about 2n-1 >/= 8n-1 I got n</= 0 .... not sure if its right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats the one you already asked :P You were correct

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

oh duhhh lol my bad haha ok what about 3-4x < 8x+3 I can't figure this one out :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok well we subtract 3 from both sides and get -4x<8x Next we subtract 8x from both sides to isolate x on one side -12x<0 Divide by -12 to get x by itself and flip signs since dividing by a negative x>0

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

okay well that is what i got too, so thats good what about 5x-5 > 6x+10 I got x < -15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add 5 to both sides 5x>6x+15 Subtract 6x from both sides -x>15 Divide by -1 (flip sign) x<15

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

isn't 15/ -1 = -15 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yea xD sorry

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

okay what about 9-5x < -4x +3 I got x>6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 9 from both sides we get -5x < -4x -6 Add 4x to both sides -x < -6 Divide by negative six and flip sign x > 6

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

okay well it seems i did all those right (yayy!!!) okay give me a second to type in this next one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok!

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

\[\left| 3-9x \right| \ge 39\] I got x </= -4 and x >/= -4 2/3 .... not sure though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ahh lord I hate these xD ok well with absolute value ones we split it up one as is one with a negative in it So we have \[3-9x \ge39\] And (hopefully I am right) \[-3x + 9 \le -39\] Solve for both we get \[-9x \ge 36\] \[x \le -4\] and \[-3x \le -48\] \[x \ge 16\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I am not sure :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By way this is last one :P I need to go so

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

here is how i worked it out i split it into to seperate equations ,the first one is: 3-9x >/= 39 -3 -3 (subtract 3 from both sides) -9x >/= 36 divide both by -9 x >/= -4 and thanks for all your help, your one of my favorite people XD :D you will be missed !!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha you will be missed also :P
