OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

How do you compare the difference in conductivity of HCl and KOH solution of same concentration

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

by comparing\[\left| ph-7 \right|\] ...i think that should work

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

I don't think so. In the lab we did a series of exp to determine the conductivity of different substance

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

Then we are asked to explain the difference in the data, why cond. of one is larger or smaller than another

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

so the ph was the same for KOH and HCl ?

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

There is no pH

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

we just stick a conductivity probe into our 0.05M standard solution and we get reading from a computer program

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

unit is in microsiemens per centimeter

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

was KOH more conductive?

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

No, HCl more conductive than KOH

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

idk why but ... H+ ion seems to be a lot more conductive than OH-
