So, what is the formula for area of a circle?
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
sorry, formula for circumference?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2 * pi * radius right?
OpenStudy (p0sitr0n):
PB=radius, C=2*pi*radius=2pi29
sammixboo (sammixboo):
\(\rm \large Formula ~for~ Circumference ~of~ a ~Circle\)
C = 2pi*r
r = radius = 29
So now we have
C = 2*3.14*29

Right. So if the radius is given to be 29, what is the circumference?
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
That is correct @lily1021 ! Good job, so can you find the radius here?
sammixboo (sammixboo):
Yes, so what do you get?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It is 182.12 then?
sammixboo (sammixboo):
Correct!

sammixboo (sammixboo):
C = 182.12
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
well, you said you have to express your answer in terms of pi, so no @lily1021, go back a step
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
\(\large C=2\pi r\rightarrow 2\pi(29)\rightarrow 58\pi\)
sammixboo (sammixboo):
Ah I forgot about that :( Oops!
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
when you substitute in your radius value, what do you get
?

The radius is 29 .
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
ok, so if you put 29 into your formula for circumference, what do you get?
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
(You don't need a calculator here)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So I do 2pi *29 which gives me 58pi?
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
right ^

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
that is correct, because multiplication is commutative so you are able to rearrange it to 2*29*pi :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Hold on I'm not really understanding how that changes to 58.
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
ok, so, what is 2*29=?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ohhh I see okay I see. I was adding the pi in it as was just getting the original answer I had. Alright thanks. :)
OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):
ahh ok, np :) happy you wanted to understand not just get an answer. Keep up the good learning!
