circles in graph question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea what to do with this...

OpenStudy (compassionate):

The standard form is Ax + By = C. I'm not too good at this type of stuff, but I can try.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

So x = -3 and y = 1

OpenStudy (compassionate):

So that eliminates C and D

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Thank goodness, @wio can explain things.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Circle with center \((h,k)\) and radius \(r\) is give by: \[ (x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2 \]

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Well, now that @wio has clarified that, I understand what is going on. The (x - 3)2 really through me off. Shoudl've typed it as ^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah sorry about that. Didn't realize it showed up like that @Compassionate
