Use a protractor :)

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

like the question is showing me a triangle and gave me 2 sides and "x". how do i find x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Depending in what situation, for instance if the question is like a triangle has 2 angles, 30degrees and 60 degrees

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

yes, thats what its like :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we know that a triangles angles always add up to 180,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if you had one angle was 30 degrees and the other 2 angles was x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we would take all the angles and add them together and set them equal to 180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 1 angle is 30, the other is x, the other is x, so 30+ x + x = 180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simplify this to 30 + 2x = 180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 30 from both sides and you will have 2x=150

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide 150 by 2 and you have x=75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the angles are 30 75 and 75

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

so my question says 1 angle is 64 and the other 110, would i add the 2 and then do 180- 174 to get 6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly good job

OpenStudy (piercetheveil47):

thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem
