The area of the green square is 9 ft2. The area of the red square is 16 ft2. What is the area of the yellow square? A) 25 ft2 B) 49 ft2 C) 81 ft2 D) 128 ft2
You'll want to use the Pythagorean Theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2.
so ill do 9^2+16^2=c^2 and solve??? @jtvatsim
Well, close... What a^2 + b^2 = c^2 means is that the area of the square of the base + the area of the square of the height = the area of the square of the hypotenuse.
The yellow square is "the square of the hypotenuse", the green square is "the square of the height" and the red square is "the square of the base"
If you just add the areas of the red and green squares together you will get the area of the yellow square... it's like magic! :)
i Got B was that correct???
Did you do 16 + 9 ?
yah
OK, well, 16 + 9 = 25, and I believe choice B is 49, so...
